S.O.S Interior Emergency!

By Sam Meadows

This issue sees Anders and team answer the call of distressed, experienced, long term clients Bill & Chris, who were worn out by the behaviour of their last tenant. Bill asked us to come over and look at just how badly the last occupant had left the property and to see what we could do to guide him back to a positive rental experience.

“I had never seen anything like it in my 20 years as a landlord. This tenant had great references but quickly moved her boyfriend and a dog in and we think simply couldn’t cope. She didn't clean anything, and the poor dog was never taken out” Bill says...

From food left all over the apartment, marks on walls and floors and the only thing a dog ever produces staining the carpets and balcony, it is easy to see how this would distress even the most experienced professional landlord. The property had not been cleaned for months and as a result needed repainting and recarpeting.

“We were devastated by the condition of the flat and reached out to Draker, who we find are always supportive beyond that of other agencies. “Jack came straight over, and we started to put a plan together for a low-cost makeover with the design support of Anders Olsson.”

Anders took this as an opportunity to work with Draker to ensure that this makeover got more than just smiles from Bill and Chris.  The property was repainted, recarpeted, and then Anders went to work with a very low budget of £2,000 to complete the furnishing and dress the property for its relaunch.

“We were delighted with the finished result. It is so great to see the flat looking so calm and stylish. We thought it would appeal to the quality of single corporate tenant that we wanted. In fact, Draker ended up producing a longer short let at £1,200 per week. We were previously getting £400 per week from the last tenant for a longer-term rental”

Within a week Anders had turned this unloved one bedroom into a chic city pad that any quality corporate tenant would love to call their London home.
