How long have you been a Draker client?

I’ve been a Draker client since they opened! Tim used to get my business even before he opened Draker, and he’s become more like a friend now. We have a coffee and a catch up twice a year. Business is all about contacts and systems. He is a great contact to have, his agency has their fi ngers on the pulse with great systems. His staff are all young, keen and energetic. Not only that but all of them are good looking too…. I’ve always wondered how that manifested itself?!

What do you do for a living?

I’m an obsessive and passionate property investor, developer and Landlord. I renovate apartments to add value and have also built two houses and manage my own portfolio.

How long have you been living in London? Why did you decide to move to the city?

I’ve been in and out of London for over twenty years and have moved permanently a few years ago to get planning permission on one of my buildings which has just come through. I will be adding an extension onto a flat and adding another storey onto the building, which will be quite a project and add tremendous value to the property.

Who is your favourite Draker employee and why?

That would be Jack (Tim’s “wingman”) and of course the wonderful Liam, who nothing is too much trouble to do, even when it’s asking for a land registry title to be downloaded and printed out! He’s a star! And don’t forget the amazingly efficient Sara –she may be behind the scenes, but she has her finger right on the pulse and knows all the rental figures and sorts everything out when I need it (or before I even know I need it)!

Your favourite local hotspot to go to?

That would definitely be singing and dancing to Luca at Crazy Pizza at the side of Harrods on a Tuesday night. They have crazy chefs who toss pizza dough around above their heads and dance around whilst spinning them and the ambiance with Luca singing is fantastic! He’s just such an amazing talent.

One tip you would give other Landlords?

Go online and learn everything you can. Google Simon Zutschi and listen to his podcasts to educate yourself. Hang around other property people and go to your local PIN meetings. Stop wasting your time watching Netflix – time is your most important asset and most people think it’s in ample supply. It isn’t. Money can’t buy time. Write down your goals, and most importantly, date your goals because a goal without a date is just a wish.

The best and worst part of being a Landlord?

Property is a great industry, you’re going to love it! And, well, it’s not work when you enjoy what you do! If anyone would like a personal goal setting coaching session with this Month’s Landlord please call or email Draker who will pass on your details. It’s £100 for 1 ½ hours which is donated to MacMillan Cancer Charity.
